B. Fleet Captain, Rich:

The winter-put-away has begun, but plenty of boats remain out and ready to be sailed so long as warm weather persists.

Saturday and Sunday, with the help of Bill Budelier, Healther Clark, Warren Darling, John Huntley, Joe Knott, Scott Leeman, Charlie Miksch, John Moore(sp?), Pat Morton, Len Sandler, Mark Stamnes, and Dave Steinman, we got some FJs into slings, demasted and stowed some Mcs and Hobies, and put 3 Hobies to bed upright in the shed.

Next weekend:   Saturday, 11 am to 1pm (or there abouts); and  Sunday 1PM to 3PM (or there abouts).

Please remember that our club is a volunteer organization.  We cannot run a successful club with out your help.  If you sailed this year, plan to help put the boats away, too.  This is your chance to fulfil your volunteering obligation to the club.  Just consider the putting away of boats to be a fun social event. No kidding, you'll have a good time....really!!!!

C. Commodore, Lindsey:

The Nominating Committee has been meeting and gathering names for next year's leaders of the Iowa Sailing Club.  Three meetings in November will solicit nominations from the floor.  Elections will be held on November 30th.

3. Unfinished business:

The two new FJs each complete with 2 suit of sails, will be ready for pickup before next sailing season, and a check for $5000 will be sent soon.

4.  New business

Moved (Lindsey/Warren) that the Club purchase 2 radial sails for Lasers to facilitate participation in the women's Laser regatta (which uses these sails exclusively).  Moved (John/ Warren) to table until next week when the motion will be brought again to the floor with information about prices, etc.   Move to table discussed; question called, and it passes unanimously.

Moved (Gleaves/John H.) that Lindsey, as a committee of one, appoint a party team to set up an end-of-season/Halloween/Thanksgiving party and report back to the Club next week.  Motion discussed, question called, and it passes unanimously.

5.  Announcements:

MCSA report:

4 UISC members went to the Harken Clinic in Madison, sailed in good winds Saturday, light winds Sunday, and learned a great deal about racing tactics in between-reported by Eric O.

4 other UISC members attended the Hoosier Regatta at Bloomington; Iowa came in 14th out of 17 contenders; good winds Saturday, light air on Sunday-reported by Ben.

The Albatross.  No new nominations were forthcoming,.  But for undivulged reasons, Eric O. volunteered to love, honor, obey, and respect the bird for the coming week.  Sailors in attendance, stunned to silence and awed by the nobility of this move, showed silent, although puzzled, appreciation.
