Minutes of the UISC Members' Meeting, Wednesday, 11/30/2005. in the Purdue Room, 341 IMU,

(to be read at the 1/18/2006 Members' Meeting for additions, corrections, and adoption).

Commodore Lindsey Schneider called the meeting to order at 1702 hours, 26 persons attending.

1.  Minutes from the Mbrs'Mtg of 11/16/05 were read and adopted without change.

2.  Officers' reports:

A. Commodore, Lindsey:

 1. Internal audit committee will be reporting to the Club soon.

 2. Judges for the UISC Photo contest will soon be appointed.

 3. Thanks to the Exec Officers of 2005 for a job well done!!

B. Secretary, John:

 1. If 2500 copies of the SuperScuttlebutt are printed on time, there will be a Fold-'em, Stick-'em, and Lick-'em party at my house this Saturday, noon on into the afternoon, lunch provided.

 2. Copies of the revised Ship's Customs were handed out to Exec officers to facilitate the transfer of duties to take place at the Exec. Meeting, next Wednesday, 12/7.

 3.Winter classes and seminars for Sailors:  The Cruising Class starts on Wed., 1/25/06; it will run for 10 weeks, Wednesday evenings immediately following the regular Club meeting.  Three dates are set aside for Skipper Rating discussion and test (2/15);  Seamanship and boat-handling in racing dinghies (3/29); and Racing rules and tactics (4/19).

 4.  Checking membership lists in preparation for mailing out the SuperScuttlebutt, the secretary sees that only 33% of the 2004 members reappear in 2005, a loss of 66%.  Is this a problem?  Does it require inquiry or corrective action?  Perhaps the 2006 Exec Officers will take up the matter next year.

C. Harbor Master, Dave:

 1.  Parts for the tractor have been received and will soon be installed.

3. Unfinished business:

Nominations from the floor were added to the list of persons nominated for Office; nominations were closed; and the Commodore proceeded to elections.

Moved (Huntley/ Gleaves) that there being no contested positions, the Club elect the slate of candidates by acclimation.  Motion passes.

4.  New business:

Moved (Huntley/Gleaves) that the Club award an Honorary Membership in the UISC to Ed Wainwright.  Both Mark and Bill B. told stories about Ed's amazing willingness to help the club in its early years up through his retirement 16 or so years ago.

The motion passes unanimously.

5.  Announcements, etc.

1 What?!!!  No nominations for the Albatross?!!!  Gentle winter is upon us.  Apparently sailors are hibernating.

2. T-shirt sales will continue after the meeting.

3. Perhaps a good post-meeting bar for next year will be Joe's, walking distance, quieter than most, and friendly atmosphere.
