The course will be evaluated in three ways: 1. Presentation of a key paper in advanced drug delivery in 2007 and 2008. Paper must be one that stimulates your interest. Click here for a sample of the evaluation sheet. Both A.K. Salem and two other students will evaluate each presentation according to the criteria listed in the evaluation sheet. In addition to providing a background to the research and highlighting strengths in the work, you will be expected to present weaknesses of the paper. Total Marks: 33% 2. Preparation of a 10 page proposal linked to your presentation. Format is NIH, Ariel Font size 12 and single spaced. General structure should be 1 page Abstract and Specific Aims, 4 pages Background and Significance, 4 pages Experimental Design and Methodology and 1 page References. The background and significance section should establish the rationale for your proposed experiments. The Experimental Design and Methodology section should include objective criteria for determining the success of an experiment. This section should also discuss anticipated outcomes, potential problems and alternative strategies. Marks will be lost for errors in grammar and spelling. Marks will be lost for poor flow. All proposed experiments should be feasible and the background and significance section should be strongly referenced. 33% Total Marks 3. Comprehensive Exam - Multiple choice. Total Percentage Marks: 34%
