Open Water Scuba Class

All students completing the course will receive a PADI Open Water Scuba Diver certification which is internationally recognized and is good for life, providing the diver remains active in the sport.

Course Description:
The open water scuba class is based around 5 modules which correspond to the 5 sections of the PADI open water scuba diver textbook provided in the course. There are 5 classroom lectures as well as 5 pool sessions followed by a 50 question multiple choice exam. Once the student has completed all pool and classroom sessions and passed the final exam, they are then eligible to complete the 4 required open water certification dives. These four dives are completed over a minimal two day time period in which the students will demonstrate all skills learned throughout the course including equipment handling, underwater safety skills and dive planning to name just a few. The course tuition is all inclusive, covering no only the instructor's fees, but facilities usage fees, equipment rentals for all pool sessions, as well as providing the PADI Open Water Crew Pak (textbook, divelog, dive tables, etc.) . There are only two exceptions to the all inclusive tuition which are as follows. First, All students are required to own their own snorkeling gear, which consists of mask, fins, snorkel, dive boots, gloves and a hood. All other equipment is provided for students use during the course. The second outside expense is the rental fees required for renting equipment while completing the certification dives. Some students, especially in the Midwest, choose to complete these four dives in tropical locations while on vacations and therefore will incur addional expense charged by whichever dive shop they are referred to, while other students will choose to complete their dives locally and will only be charged to rent their equipment for those dives.

How do I get a spot?
To reserve a spot in the open water scuba course, a non-refundable fee of $100 is required to guarentee each student a spot in the class. The $100 is applied towards the total tuition cost which is $220, plus tax, and essentially covers the cost of the educational materials provided to each student. In the unlikely event that a student is unable to attend the class for whatever reason, they will not be able to refund the deposit, but will be able to keep their educational materials to complete the course at some later date. We need a minimum of 6 people to have a class and a maximum of 14 people.
