  1. What is your current academic status?

    • Third year Dental student at the University of Iowa. 

  2. List all the extra-curricular activities you are involved with including any officer roles.

    • Student Disability Org (SDO) President
    • IASDA Philanthropy Chair
    • Hispanic Dental Association 
    • Pediatric Dental Club 

  3. Why are you passionate about disabilities?

    I have been working with individuals with disabilities since I was 16 years old, in PCA and Residential settings. I love being an advocate for individuals with disabilities. 

  4. How has SDS impacted you?

    Last year, I was the secretary for Student Disability Org (SDO).  I worked with SDS to think of ideas on how to make SDO better.  Carly Armour at SDS has been a great resource. 


  5. What advice would you give to a high school student who has a disability and plans to attend college next year?

    Get involved in your school as soon as you can.  It can be difficult to attend College with people that you don't know.  Getting involved helps you to meet new people, but also introduces you to resources that you can use if you ever need anything.  


  6. What advice would you give to a student on campus who has a disability?

    Get involved in Student Disability Org.  We are always welcoming new members and love to see new faces at meetings.  


  7. If you could share some general advice with a student on campus or a high school student, what would it be?

    If you are ever feeling discouraged or overwhelmed-don't worry.  That feeling is normal.  School can be difficult, and it is hard to balance your academic life with your social life.  Eventually, the storm will pass.  Until then, learn to dance in the rain! 


  8. Where is your favorite place to eat in town?

    Chipotle is my favorite place to eat in any town.  Some place specific to Iowa City would probably be Graze. 


  9. What is your favorite food and drink?

    My favorite drink is Sprite, and my favorite food is a cheeseburger. 


  10. What is your favorite activity to do at UI?

    My favorite activity is intramural sports.

  11. What are your hopes or plans after you graduate?

    After I graduate, I will need to find a job as a Dentist.  I hope to get a puppy right after graduation.  I am not sure where I will end up, but most likely in Iowa or Minnesota.
