SAAR is the acronym for Student Academic Accommodation Request. This form will list classroom and exam accommodations that have been approved, based on documentation of disability, for a student for the class that he/she is taking.
All private and semi-private rooms at SDS are proctored remotely using cameras and a monitor.
Exam accommodations apply to all tests, regardless of length. If you are giving quizzes followed by lecture, devise a plan by which the student will get extended time on the quizzes without missing your lecture.
Exam Services (AES) testing hours are M-F 9:00am – 4:00pm. The exam time may need to be shifted to fit within this time frame, or the student’s work and class schedule may preclude taking the exam with time accommodation at the class time. Discuss potential scheduling conflicts with the student when determining a time for the administration of modified tests. Extended test time may not interfere with another regularly scheduled class. If you are giving quizzes followed by lecture, devise a plan by which the student will get extended time on the quizzes without missing your lecture.
Instructors can send or drop off the exams with us at any time and we will hold the exam until it is scheduled. We prefer to have the exams in our office at least 24 hours before the first exam is scheduled.
The final date (or any other exam date that is not determined) can be marked as “TBA”. Please notify ES of the actual date no less than 1 week before non-final exams, and 3 weeks before the final exam, by either calling 5-1462 or sending an email to sds-exams@uiowa.edu.
Please use this to indicate if any materials will be needed or allowed for the exam. For example, a scantron, books, notes, calculator, etc.
No, we can scan the completed exam and email a copy to your UIOWA email account or hold the completed exam in our office for pickup. Campus mail and student delivery are no longer available options.
