Assistive Technology

Some examples of AT include voice recognition systems, voice synthesis, large print display, Braille embossing, and alternative computer input devices (track-balls, switches, etc.).

Various forms of assistive technology are offered by the University of Iowa's ITS Assistive Technology Support team in partnership with Student Disability Services and Faculty Staff Disability Services.

There are public Assistive Technology computers in the following Information Technology Centers (ITCs):

Each of these labs is equipped with:

  • Screen Readers
  • Scan and Read Software
  • Voice Recognition Software
  • Screen Enlargers
  • Alternative Mousing Equipment
  • Braillers
  • OCR Scanning Software

More information regarding assistive technology at the University of Iowa can be found on the Information Technology Services site.
