You've now completed your trek through the Voice Academy. How about an appropriate tune to celebrate your accomplishment?
As you listen to the music, let's review a few overarching themes:
1. Look at your classroom with a fresh eye. Are there changes you can make to improve its acoustics?
2. If you are naturally soft-spoken or prone to vocal fatigue, consider teaching with an amplification system. An investment of as little as a couple hundred dollars can significantly improve your vocal health and increase your teaching effectiveness.
3. Find the time to take care of your body, adhering to a healthy lifestyle, good posture, and a reasonable level of stress. Try some of the techniques that actors use. Even if you cannot do the exercises each day, use them when you are particularly tired or stressed.
4. If a voice problem doesn't clear up in two or three weeks, seek care from an experienced voice team.
5. Think about how just a few small changes each day can add up to significant voice savings. Speak in sentences only as long as your breath can support your words. Give your voice little naps throughout the day. Consider how your off-duty voice demands add to your vocal load. If you've really "overdone" your voice one day, how about giving it an easy day the next?
What would a graduation ceremony be without a diploma? You've earned it!
