Formal Recruitment:

Formal recruitment at Iowa takes place the week before fall semester begins. Women interested in the Greek System have the opportunity to register for recruitment during the summer. Formal recruitment for this school year has already taken place. Contact Iowa's Panhellenic Council for more information about registering for next year's Formal Recruitment, or contact us about participating in our informal recruitment process!

Formal recruitment lasts a week and consists of four rounds. During the first round, a recruit will visit all fourteen chapters and will have the opportunity to rank them afterward the round is over to decide which parties to attend the next few days. For round two, a recruit can return to up to ten chapters over the next two days and will rank again after this round. Round three consists of visiting up to six chapters and participating in their philanthropy projects. During final round of recruitment (or Preference Night), recruitment guests will visit up to three chapters, view their preference ceremonies, and then make their final rankings. The next day recruitment guests will find out if the have received a bid and who it is from.

Informal Recruitment:

Continuous Open Recruitment: Also known as COR, Informal Recruitment, Open Recruitment.

COR is much less structured than formal recruitment. The purpose of COR is to let women see what Alpha Xi Delta is all about. To do this, we include you in activities that the chapter or chapter members are already doing. For example, a potential COR candidate will be welcomed by the sisters to attend chapter sponsored events such as dinners, movies, and other activities. COR begins immediately after formal recruitment, and can continue throughout the year.

You are eligible to receive a bid if:

      + you are eligible for formal recruitment but did not
         participate.
      + you have not accepted a bid from another Panhellenic
         sorority in the past year.
      + you dropped out of recruitment.
      + you came to preference night.
      + you are interested in Alpha Xi Delta and all we offer you.
