History of the Iota Gamma Chapter |
|---|
In the fall of 1998, the Iota Gamma Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia began its reactivation process. The chapter owes its rebirth to the efforts of many men. Initially, Matt Baucum took a vested interest in reactivating the chapter here at the University of Iowa. After inspiring a group of men, he left it to the fresh recruits to undertake the long, arduous process of colonization.
After two years of meeting through stringent requirements set forth by the national organization of Sinfonia, the ranks of eager prospective members had dwindled to merely five members. After assessing their status, the hearty remaining members pledged to each other to continue the journey towards brotherhood, no matter the cost in time or effort. Finally, the day of Iota Gamma's reactivation arrived on April 19, 2001. With the generous help of other chapters in the province, the chapters' revival was a success.
All in all, it was a momentous occasion. There are now nineteen active members excited and dedicated to seeing the continued growth and maturity of the chapter. May the Iota Gamma chapter continue to thrive, always remembering that the journey is as (if not more) important than the destination.
