UI Flood Recovery Information

* UI Flood Recovery Information:  The Office of University Relations, the Office of the Provost, Human Resources, and the Division of Student Services  have been working together to coordinate a centralized web portal that gathers a wide variety of resources and news for flood-affected students, staff and faculty, as well as resources for members of the University community wishing to contribute to flood recovery efforts. The UI Flood Recovery Information Web site may be accessed directly through http://www.uiowa.edu/floodrecovery/ or via the banner on the top of the University's home page.  As appropriate, we ask that you update your unit's web site with this new link.  The Office of University Relations will also use this new site to post "Latest Flood News."

* UI Flood Exchange:  The University has launched an on-line exchange community similar to the popular "craigslist" through which members of the University community affected by the flood can post items and/or services needed in their recovery efforts (e.g., household goods, supplies, volunteer services), and others can post items and services they are able to offer.  Use of this site requires a Hawk ID and password.  To participate in the UI Flood Exchange online community, please sign-in at the following site:  http://www.uiowa.edu/floodrecovery/uihelp.html

* UI Flood Relief Fund:  As recently announced, an emergency relief fund has been established to assist faculty, staff and students displaced from their homes by the flood of 2008.  Staff and faculty interested in applying for financial assistance from the UI Flood Relief Fund are encouraged to visit the UI Flood Assistance Request Page:  http://www.uiowa.edu/floodrecovery/uihelp.html  A Hawk ID and password are required to enter the site.  Faculty and staff requesting financial support from the flood fund will be asked to schedule a confidential appointment to meet with an eligibility coordinator. Appointments will be available beginning Monday, July 7 and can be scheduled by visiting the UI Flood Assistance Request Page or by calling 3UI-FUND (384-3863).

Students displaced by the flooding are encouraged to directly contact the UI Office of Financial Aid to discuss their needs and options with a financial aid counselor. Counselors are available on a walk-in basis at 208 Calvin Hall between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
