David Biagas
In May of 2008, I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso in psychology and sociology. As an undergraduate, I was involved in research investigating cultural identity and perceptions of cultural change and its effects on attitudes towards out-group agents of change. In the summer of 2007, I was also fortunate enough to participate in the research experience for undergraduates program at Texas A&M University where I investigated the residential preferences of Latinos using the Multi-City Study of Urban Inequality.
I am now beginning my graduate career and my main areas of interest are social psychology and social stratification. I am particularly interested in lines of research concerning status characteristics, social identity, and implicit measures of attitudes and stereotypes. I am also interested in social stratification and racial inequalities experienced by Latinos and the racial categorization of Latinos and its effects on racial statistics.
