Rengin Firat
I am originally from Turkey, Istanbul; I received my BA degree in sociology from Koc University in Turkey in 2006. After a one and a half year period of working experience in the private sector as a human resources assistant, I am having the pleasure of continuing the academic life in the University of Iowa.
I am currently a first-year graduate student. My areas of interest are social psychology and gender; however I like to work interdisciplinary including stratification, sociology of organizations, economics, culture and arts.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading (literature is my second love after sociology), exploring (not just listening to) music, spending time with friends, watching movies; and if I can find time and resources scuba diving and travelling. I am also working in the Turkish Student Association of the university as a vice president.
