Jennifer Glanville

Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies

Jennifer Glanville’s research interests focus on social capital, particularly in how social networks, neighborhoods, and organizational membership contribute to patterns of inequality in social and political life. Recent projects have included investigations of the influence of voluntary association participation on social network structure and trust and a test of theoretical perspectives on the development of social trust. She is currently examining the influence of network-level closure on academic achievement. In another ongoing project she is examining the measurement, causes, and consequences of school engagement. She teaches courses on social problems, community and urban sociology, sociology of education, and structural equation models.
