Previously he has investigated absenteeism and turnover from hospitals. Most of his research on absenteeism and turnover is embodied in three books: The Study of Turnover, Professional Turnover, and Absenteeism and Turnover of Hospital Employees. He is also interested in organizational measurement and has recently revised his handbook of organizational measurement; the revision is published in the International Journal of Manpower.
