Kevin Pinkston

I received my B.A. in psychology from Dillard University in New Orleans in May, 2007. I entered the Sociology department here at Iowa in August 2007. My current research interests are in the stratification of race and social psychology. My interests in social psychology led me to my current studies on the effects of mimicry on status as well as leadership training techniques. Within the stratification of race, I have been particularly interested in racial, identity as well as attitudes toward upward mobility of African Americans. The ultimate goal of my research is to ignite an increase in the upward mobility of African Americans.

Outside of the department, I enjoy playing sports and playing the bass guitar.  I am the president of the Black Graduate and Professional Students Association (BGAPS) where we coordinate social activities and participate in various community service projects. Also, I very much enjoy being with friends and family.
