Sanghag Kim

I received my Ph.D. degree in the department of sociology at the University of Iowa and am currently working as a postdoctoral research scholar in the department of psychology.  My areas of interest include social psychology, human development and socialization, mental health, social inequality, and quantitative methodology. In my dissertation, “Sociological Studies on Happiness in Cross-National Contexts: Effects of Economic Inequality and Marriage”, I attempted to establish happiness as a sociological research topic and investigated the effects of economic inequality and marriage on happiness in cross-national contexts. From the perspective of social structure and personality, I am continuing the happiness study to examine the relationship between quality of life and quality of society. I am also involved in various research projects to focus on the interplay of nature and nurture in explaining socialization outcomes.  With the collaboration of colleagues from psychology and genetics departments, my research was published (or will be published) in Development and Psychopathology, Child Development, and other peer-reviewed journals.
