Waypoint is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an open position in the Critical Services’ Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program.

Job Summary:
The African American Outreach Advocate has primary responsibility for:
1. Creating and providing programming and services to fit the specific needs of African American victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
2. Providing individual counseling and advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
3. Facilitating support groups.
4. Advocating for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault within the legal, medical and social service systems.
5. Participating in an on-call rotation for crisis line and medical advocacy.
6. Providing community education.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and/or education:

1. At least one year of experience in domestic violence and/or sexual assault field providing peer advocacy and crisis intervention services.
2. Experience with public speaking, preferably within the context of domestic violence and/or sexual assault education.
3. Experience working with diverse populations.
4. Bachelor’s degree.
5. Ability to communicate professionally, orally and in writing.
6. A working knowledge of basic office functions, including word processing and e-mail.
