Advanced Practicum Placements
Advanced Practicum Placements
Advanced Practicum in End-of –Life Care, {Palliative Care, or Bereavement Services will be approved by the Director of Field with input from the student and the Coordinator of the End-of-Life Care Field of Practice.
Advanced Practicum Sites Include:
- Iowa City Hospice (serves seven county rural region with office in Iowa City; placements both in hospice social work and bereavement programs)
- Washington Hospice, Cedar Valley Hospice, and other hospices as arranged
- Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, University Of Iowa Health Care: Adult Oncology, Pediatric Oncology, Palliative Care, Social Services (serves whole State of Iowa, and some patients from surrounding states)
- Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iowa City and Des Moines (serve veterans from large rural region)
- West Liberty Retirement Community (provides skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living in West Liberty)
- Hospice of Central Iowa and other hospices in the Des Moines area and surrounding rural region
Additional Practicum Placements are under Development including:
- AIDS Programs in Iowa City and Des Moines areas
- Ronald McDonald House
- Hospice Program at Oakdale Correctional Facility and other Department of Correction facilities
- Johnson County Medical Examiner's Office
