Abbe Center for Community Mental Health

Description:
The agency provides comprehensive mental health services to the entire community through supportive programs, direct services, specialized programs, and consultation and educational services. Programs include: 1) Outpatient services for any person/family experiencing conflict or problems. Provide individual, couple, family, group therapy; emergency services; consultation; community education. 2) Adult Day Treatment for adults with long-term emotional/mental health problems through daytime programming; group therapy; recreational activities; skills building. 3) Elderly services for 55 and older rural residents through outreach services to identify rural elderly in need of mental health services. 4) Administration.

Aging Services, Inc.

Description:
Three programs for adults 55 and over. 1) Assessment/Intervention: interview, assess, and refer elderly to needed services, case management, provide follow-up and all aspects of social work intervention. 2) Milestones Adult Day Health Center: interview, assess, and coordinate services to participants. 3) Counseling Services: for individuals and groups. Administration can encompass all or any program in the agency: help Director/Assistant Director to carry out program planning, evaluation and overall coordination.




Aliber/Hillel Jewish Student Center

Description:
Placement responsibilities can include: (1) to serve as advisor/consultant to student board, which is responsible for planning programs and other matters that affect students; and (2) to plan and implement an outreach program for students who are not actively involved with the center. The person assigned could do either or both parts.
The objective of the first part is to facilitate the board’s work by consulting with members about requirements for organizing programs successfully, including planning, budgeting, recruiting volunteers and publicity. Also includes helping members develop interpersonal sensitivity to skills in communication and team work. The outreach program requires one-on-one calling and meeting with students to become acquainted, assess needs and interests, explain Hillel’s goals and provide a point of contact with our organization as well as organizing ad hoc groups or programs that attract uninvolved students.

Description:
Alternative Services is a non-profit agency committed to providing opportunities for personal development without our community through programs designed to assist youth and their families. 1) Child Welfare: residential care for teens aged 14 to 18 who may be delinquent, sexual abuse victims, and/or CINA youth; 2) Family Service: serve youth in their parental homes with the goal of keeping the youth from being placed outside the home. 3) Group Work: residential programs operate on daily groups. We also offer community groups to youth who are learning independent living skills. Unique learning opportunities: work with youth who possess behavioral and emotional problems. We specialize in the following areas: independent living, residential care facility, employment skills training.

Description:
Area Education Agency (AEA) 267 uses the problem solving process as a means of intervening in the general education setting rather than the traditional model of “test and place” which ultimately leads to identifying students for special education services. Graduate students placed at AEA 267 will be involved in data-based problem solving in the general education setting, in developing educational interventions and in designing special education programs for children with disabilities. AEA 267 staff work with individuals and their families from birth to age 21. Students may be expected to work with students individually and in groups in the education setting. There may be liaison work within the community to obtain additional services for individuals and their families outside of the educational setting.
