Piano
Accompanists - information
From an
8-25-08 email:
Dear
Colleagues,
please inform your students that the way to request a
pianist for a "project" has remained relatively the same.
The only differences are:
1. the need to email me (alan-huckleberry@uiowa.edu) with
their request
2. you and your students will be receiving a confirmation
email from my TA Ana Orduz (ana-orduz@uiowa.edu) and
3. it will be the responsibility of your students to get
the music to the assigned TA
A couple of reminders:
-Projects should be around 20 minutes in length
-Each project lasts 5 weeks
-It must culminate in some sort of final and defined
performance (master class, seminar, lesson, recital, etc.)
-The first week is reserved for the pianist to learn the
music
-Weeks 2-5 the TA will have one hour for rehearsal and one
hour of contact with you (lesson, seminar)
-Projects may be halved (shorter pieces)
And finally, it is extremely important to stress that your
students really need to try not to cancel or miss scheduled
rehearsal times. It will be the responsibility of the piano
TA to reserve a rehearsal space, but as you can imagine,
these are not easy to come by, so that rescheduling is very
difficult. Should your student simply not show up to a
scheduled rehearsal, it will definitely not be made up and
the TAs have been instructed to contact you to let you
know.
