Staff Council in the News
UI Staff Councilors had a rocking good time at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Johnson County Bowl for Kids’ Sake while raising money to support local kids and their mentors.
The “Councilors for a Cause” team raised over $1,700 and celebrated its efforts with some bowling at the “Pop, Rock and Bowl”-themed event on Feb. 24 at Colonial Lanes. A total of $150,000 was raised by the 176 teams that took part in this year’s event.
According to Big Brothers Big Sisters, all of the money raised stays in Johnson County to help match adults with kids ages 6 to 18, giving them a mentor to talk to and spend time with.
Team Captain and UISC Social Committee Chair John Downing said the council was thrilled to support such a worthwhile cause and take part in a fun event. He thanked all UI colleagues and others who donated to this worthwhile cause.
