Staff Council Resolution Against Hate

In response to the recent hate emails and incidents on campus, The University of Iowa Staff Council passed the following resolution at our meeting, April 12, 2000.

"The University of Iowa Staff Council recognizes that whenever an act of hatred or inhumanity occurs on our campus, we are each affected and diminished by such an act. We are proud of our diversity which strengthens all who study, work, or teach within our community. We seek to increase diversity. Further, we believe through dialog and education, we can increase understanding and respect.

The Staff Council, therefore resolves to condemn any acts of racism, intolerance, discrimination, and hatred that we encounter. We further resolve to promote and encourage the celebration of our differences to improve the environment in which we work and learn."

Sincerely,

Pat Kenner,
President of Staff Council
