Hello,
Attached is a news release from the Board of Regents today. It indicates that they contacted only one of the four finalists for the UI Presidency, and that person refused to be reconsidered. The Board has decided to start a new search.
The failure of this search, the expense involved, and the black mark it puts on the state of Iowa for recruiting faculty, staff, and students lies solely with the leadership of the Board of Regents. Unless a change in the governance structure of the Board is evident before our meeting next Wednesday, I am intent on proposing a vote of "no confidence" in the Board of Regents, State of Iowa leadership. I will also pursue some means of electronically polling our consituents for votes of no confidence in the leadership, although I may not have that done and collected by Wednesday.
The failed search is the final straw in accepting leadership that continues to undermine the mission of higher education in the State of Iowa. I encourage all of you to reach out to all who hold education in Iowa dear and ask that they pursue whatever means necessary to change the leadership in the Board of Regents.
