The College of Engineering wishes to thank the University Staff Council for our staff appreciation grant. We hold a staff appreciation picnic on the Monday after the spring commencement to celebrate the end of another successful academic year. We also invite faculty to attend to show their support for staff. The past two years we've had faculty and staff provide musical entertainment. It is always a fun event and well attended. It is a great way to thank staff for their hard work and contributions to the success of the College of Engineering.

The Hospital Dentistry Institute Department would like to extend a big Thank You to the UI Worklife and Staff Appreciation departments for the $300.00 grant given in April, 2006. This grant was matched by our department with a small amount of funds from the employees to buy departmental shirts. We went with the Hawkeye colors with the alternate colors for stitching. Attached is a photo of some the employees showing their colors on Friday Sept 15 for the Iowa/Iowa State football game.

Dear Mary,
Please extend our appreciation and thanks to UI Staff Council for the Council’s support of staff appreciation efforts on our campus.
The College of Education Rewards and Recognition committee obtained a UI Worklife staff appreciation grant. We used this grant funding to celebrate the contributions and hard work of college staff. We held a college wide party/lunch at the end of the semester with an “Iowa Picnic” theme, brought in food from Jimmy Jack’s Rib Shack, and invited all staff to come and celebrate. Faculty members pitched in and helped with event so that staff could enjoy and not have to work!
Thank you for providing the funding to make these events and appreciation efforts possible.

Subject: Report on staff appreciation event in College of Engineering
Nancy--
The College of Engineering held a staff appreciation luncheon on Monday,
15 May. With the recent addition of NADS staff to the college, there are
now about 120 staff in the college. Invitations were sent to all staff,
and about 80 people attended the event. We were particularly pleased that
more than 10 of the NADS staff came from the Oakdale campus to attend.
In addition to food, music was provided by a group including a faculty member in the college. (The music was such a hit that the group has been asked to play at the College's annual holiday party.) The dean congratulated the existing Engineering Staff Council for its work this past year and mentioned accomplishments as well as educational and social events sponsored by that group. At the appreciation luncheon seven staff members said they were interested in working on a new shared governance group in the college.
Eng. Staff Council members got thanks from attendees for hosting the luncheon. Except that the weather prohibited us from holding the luncheon outside, the events was a success.
Thanks to WorkLife, Staff Council, and the UICCU for the funding to hold our staff appreciation event.

The Office of Admissions Staff Development & Recognition Committee was recently selected to receive a grant from the UI WorkLife Office. I understand from Nancy Noyer that both your groups are the sponsors. I want to extend our appreciation for your financial support. The grant money will be used towards an end of semester picnic for our staff. We have a staff of ~70 fulltime employees as well as many students who serve a wide variety of functions related to the recruitment and admitting of students.

On behalf of UI Health Care Information Systems, please extend our collective thanks to the UI Staff Council for their support of the Staff Appreciation Grant program. We recently received a grant to underwrite costs of a department-wide appreciation event planned for the May/June timeframe. This event will recognize the work being done by HCIS staff on a number of critical clinical, administrative and financial strategic initiatives. We are planning to host a celebratory event to recognize all the progress made to date and to help encourage staff to keep up the good work. We plan to invite senior leadership from the hospital to provide additional words of appreciation, support, and encouragement. This grant will help cover the costs associated with providing food for the event.
It is fitting we received notice of this award during National Hospital Week. Our upcoming departmental event will be another great opportunity for HCIS staff to celebrate their successes!
