Diane DeBok |
Statement: I have worked in the Division of Continuing Education for 18 years coordinating and promoting courses and programs offered statewide. The University is a great place to work, and I’d like to be part of an organization where all areas of the UI community work together & learn from each other. I would like to participate in Staff Council by contributing what I have learned through working with other groups. Other activities include Old Capitol Toastmasters, Riverside Planning & Zoning Committee, American Advertising Federation: Cedar Rapids-Iowa City |
Diana Boeglin |
Statement: Diana was elected to Staff Council last year but had to give up her position when she was furloughed from her reseach position. Since coming to our department she has been a great addition to the Purchasing Agent team. She is hard-working, positive, articulate, and eager to learn. Although she came to our department from a research background she quickly made the transition to a service/administative department. Diana welcomes new challenges, and with her varied employment background at the U of I, she would be a valuable resource for Staff Council. She has the unique ability to view issues from both the research and academic/administrative point of view. Diana is anxious to serve on Staff Council and be a voice for both of these groups. |
Nancy Davin |
Statement: I am seeking re-election to Staff Council for a second 3-year term. During my first term, while a human resources administrator at the Student Health Service, I was a member of the Executive Committee all three years, the last year as Secretary. In addition, I served on the UI Smoking Policy Review Committee and the UIHC Ad Hoc Committee. On February 1, 2008, I began as a program associate in a research lab in Pediatrics. Staff Council has broadened my understanding of the campus as a whole and has offered me the opportunity to give back to the university community in return for the 28 years it has served me as my employer. I enjoy being a voice for my colleagues, believe strongly in shared governance, and would be honored to serve my P&S colleagues for another three years. |
Donald L D'Hooge |
Statement: Hello, and thank you for reading my profile. I have been with the University for almost 6 years. All of that time has been in ITS providing services that will help this University be more productive. I believe with clear communication and team work out of our leaders this University can be the most sawed after employer for our communities. Also that the University staff should be a driving force to improving our campus for the students. If elected I will do my best to listen to the needs of those I would be representing and strive to make the University a better place for all of us.

Statement: I have lived in Iowa City for over 16 years and think it is a great place to live. I graduated from the University of Iowa in 1997 and have now been working in Health Care Information Systems at the hospital for over 5 years. I want to be on Staff Council so I can make a difference and help make this an even better place to work. |
Edudzi (Eddie) T Etsey |
Statement: Eddie always goes above and beyond his call of duty at work. He is a compassionate individual who gives whatever task he is involved with 110%. He has received high accolades from his supervisors, and his co-workers always have good things to say about his supervisory style, and openness to mentoring them. He is dedicated to serving UIHC the best he can and also has an interest in bringing Health Care Information Systems technology to developing nations as part of his future career aspirations. He went to University of Iowa for his undergraduate and has served on the executive committee for the African Student Association. He also continues to be active in the University Community by sharing his cultural heritage. Eddie's international upbringing (USA and Ghana) and his long affiliation with the University of Iowa, as a student and staff member will add to the diversity of the Staff Council." |
Sehee Foss |
Statement: I have gone to the UI for both undergrad, and for law school. This university and the people here mean a lot to me; one of the many reasons I stayed in the area. I have always been an active member of this university and hope to continue this by sitting on the Staff Council. As a law student, I was the ISBA student body president (law school govt) and I was previously a UISG graduate/professional school senator twice--once elected by my law school peers and then under the Mark Kresowik (previous UISG president) ticket. I truly enjoyed speaking for and representing my peers. |
Mark J Fullenkamp |
Statement: Mark is a committed staff member in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, where he serves as the CLAS webmaster. He works with staff at all levels, throughout the University. Mark cares deeply about the University of Iowa, and is constantly looking for ways to make a difference. He is selfless, and always willing to assist his colleagues. On numerous occasions, I have heard fellow staff and faculty comment on Mark’s positive influence and Herculean effort. He is a tremendous representative of the Dean’s Office and the College. I sincerely believe Mark would be a terrific addition to the Staff Council. This opportunity would not only provide him with a great means to continue sharing his knowledge of the University, but equally important, his good will and constructive energy. I give Mark my full support |

Statement: Hello, I'm Eric Schnedler and I've been at the University of Iowa Health Care Information Systems for the past four years. I've chosen to run for Staff Council because I feel I would be a good member and advocate to the campus community. Whenever the opportunity arises to be involved with a unique task or project, I jump to it. Statement: My career at the University of Iowa began in 1994 in Design & Construction Services. My growth at the university involves four years at Design & Construction, eighteen months at the Risk Management & Treasurer’s Office, and seven years with the Academic Advising Center and currently I hold a position as a Human Resources Assistant at Hospital Human Resources. With each of these roles, I have experienced new successes and opportunities which bring benefit to me personally as well as the university. My interaction with multiple departments and staff has always been an enjoyable experience for me. Serving on the Staff Council would further my interest at the university and allow me to give back to the university by serving the councils needs. |

Karla M Stout |
Statement: I would like to be considered for Staff Council because I feel it is very important for staff to voice their opinions and concerns. I have been particularly interested issues of performance management, supervisor and staff training, equity among staff and fairness of policies and programs as they affect staff. I’ve been around the University for over 20 years and feel I have experience and knowledge that could benefit Staff Council. The workload for staff has increased significantly in recent years and I believe this is an area that warrants attention as the University moves toward its goal of being the Employer of Choice. |

The Budget Office is responsible for managing the Coke Funds that SC allocates for projects that benefit staff. I have grown professionally and personally by serving on SC. I’ve learned more about UI, met people across campus and understand how valuable our “staff voice” is. It was exciting to be a staff member involved in the presidential interview process. I am now honored to be part of the search for our new Executive Vice President/Provost. My primary responsibilities include Budget and HR management for some of the units that report to the VP for Research. I have experience on the academic side and in research administration. I also understand many of the concerns that our research staff feel. |
