Robert Brown
Research Assistant II
High Field NMR Facility
Office :79 CB, Ph: 335-1332
Ph: 335-1332
robert-l-brown@uiowa.edu

Statement: I have served with Robert the last year on staff council.  He has always shown himself to give thoughtfull input and consideration to all topics discussed at the meetings.  He also has worked in several areas of the University and has a great perspective on the university as a whole.

Traci Bergthold, MA
Research Associate II
Community and Behavioral Health
1211 Westlawn
335-6684
traci-bergthold@uiowa.edu

Statement: I would like to nominate myself for Staff Council. I feel I would bring diverse experience to the position. I have worked for several years on a university campus (San Diego State), with the government, and in the private sector which allows me to offer a well rounded perspective on staff concerns.
I have a history of getting involved either in school or on the job and I would like to continue that interest during my employment at the U of I. I was on Student Council and Senior Class President in high school. I was President of the Psychology Club in college and I volunteered for several outside activities in the workforce.
I have a positive and upbeat personality that believes change is possible with a little hard work and the right attitude. It would be my privilege to represent the U of I staff as a council member.

Eric Cherko
Limnologist 2
Hygienic Laboratory
2220 South Ankeny Blvd.
(515) 725-1638
echerko@uhl.uiowa.edu

Statement: I believe that serving on the Staff Council would allow me to play an important role in improving communications between the many different facets that comprise the U of I community.

He served as chair for employee committee and enjoyed the position.

Eric is concerned about the well being of my co-workers and puts their needs before his own needs. He was a successful
Chairman to the Ankeny UHL employees committee. While serving on the
employees committee he employed several social activities for all the
Employees. He encouraged participation from everyone. He united the
different sections of the laboratory in a social setting instead of just a work setting. I think he would make an excellent member to the Staff Council.

Eric Cherko would make a fine staff council member, and would represent the University of Iowa Hygienic Laboratory-Ankeny well.

Statement: I desire to serve the needs of professional staff in an elected capacity. Much of the work within this university of designed and completed by professional research staff who face the possible redefinition of their jobs and daily face a lack of recognition and appreciation. It is time to recognize and reward our role in this university adequately.
