On February 27, 2008 from noon until 1:00 pm, a Brown Bag Lunch for Research Staff Members will be held in the Seebohm Conference Room, 283 EMRB. The purpose of this Brown Bag Lunch will be to discuss the Research Track Faculty Proposal that was approved by a narrow margin at the the February 5, 2008 Faculty Senate Meeting. If this proposal is approved by President Mason and the Board of Regents, individual colleges will be allowed to establish non-tenured, Research Track Faculty positions.

The Research Track Faculty Proposal was also discussed at the February 13, 2008 Staff Council Meeting. At the Staff Council Meeting, there was concern about how the establishment of a new Research Faculty Track might affect current University of Iowa research staff members. The Staff Council Research Representatives have organized this Brown Bag Lunch to give research staff members the opportunity to learn more about the Research Track Faculty Proposal and voice their concerns about the proposal. Although this event is targeted at research staff members, all University of Iowa faculty and staff members are welcome to attend. We hope you will be able to bring your bag lunch and join us for this discussion on February 27, 2008.
