Accommodations

Hotels

We have negotiated a block of rooms at a special conference rate of $109 at the Sheraton Iowa City in dowtown Iowa City. Space is limited and this rate expires on April 23, so make sure to book before then. The Sheraton has reported that they are running low on single kings, but there are double queens still available, so make sure to explicitly search for the latter if the former is unavailable. It is a pleasant half mile walk to the conference meeting space at the Iowa Memorial Union. Plan to arrive on Thursday evening and depart on Sunday morning. You can make reservations in one of two ways:
      1. By calling the hotel at 1-800-848-1335 and telling them that you are with the "State Politics & Policy Association";
      2. By visiting the Sheraton website for the conference and booking your room online.

Those interested in even more deluxe accommodations should consider the Hotel Vetro, which is affiliated but does not feature a special conference rate.

While there are not many other hotels in downtown Iowa City, there are a variety of bed and breakfasts nearby (e.g., Brown Street Inn, The Mission House, Smith's) and many (generally less expensive) hotels with access to public transportation on the outskirts of town and in nearby Coralville.
