How does the SST work?
Membership
Membership in the SST is open to any member of the UI community who is committed to fostering undergraduate student success at Iowa.
Meetings
The SST – about 150 faculty, students, and staff in Spring 2008 – meets as a group four times a year to engage in conversations about issues related to student success. The September 2007 meeting, for example, focused on physical spaces for student engagement and featured a presentation by Rod Lehnertz, Director of Campus and Facilities Planning. In November 2007, Sarah Hansen, Associate Director of Student Health/Health Iowa, talked about health-related issues that affect student success at Iowa. The SST also holds an annual summer retreat for planning purposes. The agenda for the July 2007 retreat was to develop a plan for action for 2007-2009; implementation of that plan began in Fall 2007.
Leadership
The SST is led by an Executive Committee, composed of 12 faculty, staff, and students. The SST Executive Committee is responsible for deciding what projects the SST will implement, and monitors progress toward the goals of the SST.
