Student Video Productions is a student group recognized by the University of Iowa that makes a variety of television programs for broadcast on UITV. Our shows air at 8pm on Sunday nights on channel 4 in the dorms and channel 17 elsewhere. To learn more about our programming, visit our Shows page.
There are currently over 40 students involved in SVP, either working on the cast or crew of one of the current shows or helping develop new ones. A University of Iowa advisor works with the SVP staff members to make sure the production goes smoothly (and according to FCC guidelines). Learn more about the SVP management on the Staff page.
The SVP office is located in room 260A in the Iowa Memorial Union. We do the indoor shooting for our shows in our studio at the Communications Center in room 114. SVP also has its own cameras, lights, and audio equipment used for location shooting. Throughout the year, members can also choose to be hired out by the university to record special lectures and other activities.
