VOLUNTEER FAQ
Q: How do I get my ticket?
A: Once you have fulfilled your volunteer commitment (10 hours or the organization's requirement) and your hours have been verified, you will receive information about how to pick up your ticket. Tickets will be distributed from at the Iowa Memorial Union Box Office beginning Monday, April 7 through the concert (April 22). You must complete a 10K Exit Survey, print it, and submit it to the IMU Box Office to receive your ticket. Please refer to the TICKETING section on the 10K website for more information. (www.10000HoursEI.org)
Q: Can I buy a ticket to The 10,000 Hours Show?
A: No way. Go volunteer!
Q: So do I only have to volunteer 10 hours?
A: You must volunteer whatever the organization requires. 10 hours is the minimum set by The 10,000 Hours show, but if an organization requires a longer commitment, you must fulfill the organization's requirements in order to receive your concert ticket.
Q: The organization that I volunteer for is not listed on the website, what do I do?
A: Ask the person in charge of volunteers at that organization to register as an agency at Corridor Volunteers. A majority of non-profit organizations will qualify; they just have to be registered on the website for record-keeping purposes.
Q: I do volunteer work with my fraternity / sorority-does that count?
A: Volunteer work must be done with an organization that is registered on CorridorVolunteers.org in order for the hours to count towards The 10,000 Hours Show. Volunteer hours must be ultimately verified by the organization's volunteer coordinator. So, if the volunteer work your house does fits the above criteria -- you're good to go.
Q: When is the last day to start volunteering?
A: You must have all your hours verified and completed before you pick up your concert ticket - no exceptions. In order to accomplish that we recommend that people have all of their volunteer hours completed 2-3 weeks before the concert date to allow for the hours verification process and picking up your ticket. The final day to submit volunteer hours is April 15, 2008.
Q: What happens if I don't complete my volunteer hours?
A: You will have had a cool volunteering experience but will miss out on a sweet show. The only way you can attend The 10,000 Hours Show concert is by completing at least 10 hours of volunteer service at a registered community organization.
Q: How do my volunteer hours get verified?
A: It's so simple and easy! Below is the step-by-step:
• Login to your volunteer account at www.corridorvolunteers.org
• Under the section "Your Hours" (on the right-hand side), click on "Log Hours"
• Select the agency/ volunteer opportunity you were involved with
• Enter the date and # of hours you volunteered
• When you're finished, click "Okay"
• The organization must then verify those hours in order for you to get your concert ticket-you should call or email them to remind them about verifying your hours, or better yet-tell them ahead of time that you will be submitting hours, so they can keep on top of it.
