Graduate Admissions

Our MFA programs, which offer intensive training for those who hope to become theatre artists, are very selective. Each program has its own admission procedures, but students from all programs work together in the production of our mainstage, gallery, and workshop shows.

Why Iowa Theatre

Becoming a theatre artist requires a student to master one subject while developing knowledge and respect for the work of others. For this reason, graduate students at Iowa have their own intensive programs in acting, design, directing, dramaturgy, playwriting and stage management, and also work together across disciplines. Thus, when you apply for a program you are also applying for admission to a community of artists.
