How to Apply to Lead a Gallery or Workshop Production, or a Reading

Of the 25 productions the Department presents each year, 15 are “Gallery” and “Workshop” productions led by students. These productions may be new plays by graduate or undergraduate playwrights, existing scripts directed by graduate or undergraduate directors, or actor-created projects. In addition, the Department sponsors a series of readings of new plays by undergraduate and graduate writers. Galleries normally rehearse for about 6 weeks, Workshops for about 4 weeks, and Readings for a few days.

Selection of these projects is made in the spring before the academic year in which they will occur. In early February the Department announces a call for projects. Forms for these proposals are required, and are available online and at the Theatre Office. Proposals are due April 1 and a decision is announced by May 1.
