The
University of Iowa Triathlon Team was founded in the Fall of 2001 to
facilitate a community of overachieving athletes. Since its inception,
the team has grown ten-fold and has become a powerhouse in triathlon
competitions. We have several members who place and have won age group
nationals.
The team
welcomes all levels from beginners to pros. Zero experience is
necessary. Membership is not limited to students; however we do compete
in some specifically collegiate events. For a small fee ($40/year or
$25/semester), members are welcome to practice 4-5 times per week,
including free use of the University pool.
While
training and competitions are important, we also believe that social
activities are a must. The team has an annual kickball tournament and
barbeque, as well as many other crazy nights out throughout the year. We
took a training trip to the tundra, otherwise known as Ariel’s “cabin”
on Lake Michigan winter 2003. Another training trip is planned this
weekend for Lake McBride State park. We also have several weekend trips
planned for this fall to compete in triathlons, duathlons, and road
races.
Don’t
hesitate. Join the University of Iowa Triathlon Team now! Interested
persons should post on our
message board
Everyone is
welcome at one of our
scheduled
practices.
