Announcements for September

September 26th – 27 Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow, moderator of the 218th General Assembly, will speak at the fifth annual Scholar in Residence program at First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Saturday and Sunday,

Sept. 26-27. Registration begins at 2 p.m. the opening day. The program, which includes Sunday worship and wraps up with an adult forum following the service, also will explore faith, and include Bible study, a local art display, and music and a meal. The Saturday evening meal is free, but registrations are required by Wednesday,

Announcements for October

9th-10th University of Northern Iowa hosts a conference presented by Iowa Friends of Sabeel, “A Free Palestine and a Secure Israel: From Occupation to Liberation and Reconciliation.” Conference details: www.savelliowa.org

The Mission Outreach Committee of St. Andrew is willing to sponsor students to attend the conference for the student rate of $25.  

17th and 24th Flood Relief work most likely, we will be doing yard work and painting in Cedar Rapids. There is still a lot to do, and a lot of the houses that were flooded last summer were damaged a few weeks ago when we had all that rain. We will meet at St. Andrew Church on Melrose at 8:30 AM and we will work till about 12:30 or 1PM. Please bring water! Thanks for your concern for others....you all really make a difference!!

 

 

 

Ongoing events

 

Every Sunday beginning August 30th @ Saint Andrew’s church beginning at 7:00 P.M. in the Butterfly Room there’s a Bible study (coffee supplied) come to the Butterfly room.

 

St. Andrew Presbyterian Church offers a volunteer opportunity to serve free lunch the first Wednesday of every month from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm in the lower level of the Wesley Center on Dubuque St. near Handi Mart.  Recently the need for service has increased due to flooding. For details call Shirley Maxey at (319) 338-5122.

 

Wesley Center worship every Wednesday evening at 9 – 10.  Wesley Center is located on Dubuque, near Handi Mart.

 

Taize is held from 5:00 to 6:00 PM each Sunday at Old Brick on the corner of Market and Clinton in Iowa City.
