Meet Nancy Olthoff...
Upon moving to Iowa City in 2002, Nancy was
confident that God would find her a position that would blend her interests
and skills. Becoming the Director of Campus Ministry for St. Andrew
Presbyterian Church and United Campus Ministry, according to her friends is
"right up her alley." Nancy approaches this ministry venture with excitement and
energy to reach out to the students and staff of the University of Iowa
through the development of small groups.
Nancy's doctorate in Urban Services from Old
Dominion University focused on higher education and counseling.
Previously, she served as the Director of Disability Services at
Old Dominion University and chaired the University Presbyterian Ministry for
several years. As Director of United Campus Ministry she combines her love for
students who are expanding their minds with nurturing of their spirits.
Nancy is married to Harry Olthoff, the
General Presbyter/Facilitator of the Presbytery of East Iowa. They
have a daughter, Sarah, who lives in Richmond, Virginia. Their oldest
son, Tim, died of cancer in 1996. Their adopted son, Larry, lives in
Michigan.
Singing, entertaining, traveling,
and reading are fulfilling investments of time for Nancy. Nancy has
led several mission trips to Brazil and participated in trips to Mississippi
for hurricane relief. She is learning to play the tenor saxophone in
order to play in the St. Andrew jazz band.
