Psychoeducational Evaluation

The UCS offers specialized evaluation for learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder (ADD) to University of Iowa students. Often, students who have been diagnosed with a learning disability or ADD while attending grade school or high school find that they must repeat this testing in order to receive accommodations here at The University of Iowa. Also, University students sometimes have learning disabilities or ADD that have not yet been diagnosed or have been misdiagnosed. Options for this testing can be discussed here at the UCS.

To initiate this testing consultation, please call (319) 335-7294 and schedule an appointment to meet with one of our staff members who specializes in this service. At that time, you and the counselor will discuss your academic concerns and, if appropriate, plan to embark on a course of testing that will help determine what accommodations, if any, would be appropriate while you are a student at the University. There is a $75 fee for materials involved in this testing, and the testing itself typically takes from 6 to 10 hours over the course of several weeks. At times, particularly once the semester is well underway, there may be a lengthy wait to begin this testing process, so please call as soon as you have determined that this is a service you would like to obtain.
