EDUCATION: WORK AT UICHR

The work of the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights (UICHR) depends upon the contributions of people like you. Our success is due to the commitment, inspiration and hard work of University of Iowa students and members of the greater Iowa City community who volunteer their time and diverse talents. We invite you to contact us about opportunities at the UICHR. We offer short and long-term volunteer and internship experiences. The following are types of work students and other community members might undertake in the future:

 

UICHR Resource Library Coordinator — Research, maintain, and build our internship resource library

Website Manager — Ongoing maintenance of UICHR website, including writing and editing; occasional design and development projects

Careers for Change Series Programmer — Organize speaker series in which visitors share their career experiences in social justice and human rights fields

Public Relations Coordinator — Writing press releases and helping with UICHR publicity

Event Coordinator — Help schedule speakers, plan itineraries, and organize different UICHR events and conferences

Project Assistant — Help with ongoing UICHR projects such as the Funded Internship Program

Research Assistant — Work on different research projects UICHR is working on, such as human trafficking, the Immigrant Support Network Project, and others

One Community, One Book Assistant — Help organize UICHR’s annual community book reading project

Campus Liaison — Work with student organizations, like the Bijou or Student Government, to organize campus activities and programming
