NOTE: The human rights journals and reviews linked on this page are organized into groups depending upon whether the full text of each issue is available to the general public.  Many of the journals listed in the closed category have  full text versions available online to academic users and others who have subscription access to journal databases such as EBSCOhost, JSTOR and Project MUSE.

Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution

Established in 1998, the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution ("CJCR") has become a key component of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law's commitment to the area of alternative dispute resolution.  CJCR's biannual publication includes a broad range of notes, articles, and commentaries embracing provocative concepts within the field. In addition, CJCR hosts symposia highlighting some of the most current and provocative issues.

 

Human Rights and Human Welfare

Human Rights & Human Welfare: An International Review of Books and Other Publications publishes thematic review essays, book notes, topical research digests, a monthly roundtable forum, and hosts a working papers website.

 

Human Rights Brief

The Human Rights Brief, a student-run publication of the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at the Washington College of Law, reports on developments in international human rights and humanitarian law and provides concise legal analysis of cutting edge human rights issues.

 

Intergenerational Justice Review

The Intergenerational Justice Review is a quarterly journal about Generational Justice.  The journal aims to raise awareness of the responsibility towards succeeding generations whilst at the same time seeking to give information, along a different theme in each issue, about current developments on the subject of Generational Justice and Sustainability.

 

International Journal of Refugee Law

The International Journal of Refugee Law aims to stimulate research and thinking on refugee law and its development, taking account of the broadest range of State and international organization practice. In addition, it serves as an essential tool for all engaged in the protection of refugees and finding solutions to their problems.

 

Journal of Refugee Studies

The Journal of Refugee Studies, a multidisiplinary peer-reviewed journal, provides a forum for exploration of the complex problems of forced migration and national, regional and international responses. The journal covers all categories of forcibly displaced people.

 

Journal on Ethnopolitics and Minority Issues in Europe

The Journal on Ethnopolitics and Minority Issues in Europe is a multi-disciplinary journal, which addresses minority issues across a broad range of studies, such as ethnopolitics, democratization, conflict management, good governance, participation, minority issues and minority rights. It is devoted to analysing current developments in minority-majority relations in the wider Europe, and stimulating further debate amongst academics, students and practitioners on issues of instability and integration that are hampering democratic development in Europe.

SUR - International Journal on Human Rights

The SUR - International Journal on Human Rights is published biannually.  SUR is a network of academics working together with the mission to strengthen the voice of universities in the South on human rights and social justice, and to create stronger cooperation between them and the United Nations.

 

The Australian Journal of Human Rights

The Australian Journal of Human Rights was established in 1991 and is published twice a year. It is a publication of the Australian Human Rights Centre which is part of the School of Law at the University of New South Wales.  It aims to raise awareness of human rights in Australia and globally by providing a forum for scholarship and discussion and to monitor human rights developments in this region.  This journal deals not only with the legal aspects of human rights but also with philosophical, historical, sociological, economic and political issues as they relate to human rights.

 

Yale Human Rights & Development Law Journal

The Yale Human Rights & Development Journal aims to explore the tension and congruence between human rights and development. There is much discussion and debate over what these concepts mean and how they interrelate. These issues demand holistic, cross-cutting analysis, and so the Journal encourages writings that draw upon various academic disciplines, such as political science, public policy, economics, health and sociology.

François-Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health & Human Rights:  An International Journal

Health & Human Rights:  An International Journal publishes scholarly articles, commentaries and editorials, reports and profiles, and book reviews and bibliographies.  It explores the reciprocal influences of health and human rights, including the impact public health programs and policies have on human rights, the consequences human rights violations have on health, the importance of health in realizing human rights, and the ways in which human rights can be integrated into public health strategies.

 

Human Rights Quarterly

Human Rights Quarterly presents current work on important developments within the United Nations and regional human rights organizations, both governmental and non-governmental. By providing decision makers with insight into complex human rights issues, the Human Rights Quarterly helps to define national and international human rights policy.
 

Journal of Human Rights

The Journal of Human Rights is a quarterly journal that serves as an interdisciplinary arena for the public discussion and scholarly analysis of human rights. It seeks to broaden the discussion of human rights by fostering critical re-examination of existing approaches to human rights, and developing new perspectives on the theory and practice of human rights, as well as new empirical approaches to the study of human rights.
Note:  Editing of this journal has recently relocated to the University of
Connecticut

Journal of International Migration and Integration

The Journal of International Migration and Integration is a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary bilingual (English and French) scholarly journal, published quarterly starting Winter 2000. The journal features review articles and book reviews, and special issues highlight subjects and areas of current interest.

Journal of Poverty

The Journal of Poverty presents a conception of poverty that is broader and more inclusive than the traditional view.  This journal is intended to broaden our thinking and to encourage others to join in the discussion.  It believes that impoverishment in this country cannot be discussed if we exclude social and political inequalities. To ignore how people are marginalized from social and political participation is to ignore one of the critical ingredients of economic poverty.

 

Muslim World Journal of Human Rights

The Muslim World Journal of Human Rights is the only academic forum dedicated to the pressing question of human rights in the Muslim world. The journal approaches this complex issue through multiple lenses: Islam and Islamic law, socio-economic and political factors, institutions, and gender and minority rights. ecent articles concern such topics as Women's Sexual Health and Rights in Senegal, Islam and Gender Justice, Human Rights Post-9/11, the Extension of Shari'ah in Northern Nigeria, and Human Rights in Islamic Malaysia.

 

The International Journal of Human Rights

The International Journal of Human Rights is a quarterly journal covering an exceptionally broad spectrum of human rights issues: human rights and the law, race, religion, gender, children, class, refugees and immigration. In addition to these general areas, the journal publishes articles and reports on the human rights aspects of genocide, torture, capital punishment and the laws of war and war crimes.
