One of the most important things in helping to create a more environmentally-conscious society is education. Educating those around us is the only real way to make others more aware of environmental issues. There are various facets for education. Projects are one way that we can engage others directly, by getting them involved in something hands-on. However, other facets are important too -- film screenings, public discussions, book readings, informational presentations. The UIEC believes that all venues and avenues in education should be explored. Enriching minds with new knowledge provides the opportunity for changes in behavior and world views. The UIEC is committed to educating the UI campus to help us all move towards a deeper environmental awareness and stewardship.

At each meeting, the UIEC takes approximately 10 minutes for a brief educational discussion. This allows the members of our group to grow in knowledge also, while reaching out the community around them.
