The Hawkeye Fencing Team has been busy the past few weeks. The Ohio State Duals were on November 14th. This past Saturday, the team travled to the University of Chicago for yet another NAC tournament. Congradulations to all the Hawkeye fencers on their great tournaments.

• Happy Halloween's Eve! Just a reminder that the Cantalope Open at Iowa State is tomorrow (Oct. 31st)

Sorry for missing the update the past week; I was doing that college thing where I panic study and then take tests. Your Hawkeye fencers have been busy as well. They competed in the NAC in Des Moines, Iowa last weeked and are gearing up for the Cantaloupe I Iowa State University on October 31st.

Just a few other things to take note of.

• The Novice class will now be in racquetball courts 13,14, and 15. They're upstairs on the floor 4R
• The First MFC event is November 15th

• The Hawkeye Open is Tomorrow! Just a reminder that all club memebers should show up at 10 p.m. tonight (Firday Sept. 25th) to help set up. Memebers should also be at the Field House at 8 a.m. Saturday to finish setting up, help out, and support their fellow club members
• Another reminder, club fees are due. Give your money to Thom or Adam during practice.
• Good luck Saturday Hawkeyes!

The Iowa City Fencing Center is on its way to being up and running, but it’s still lacking one crucial thing: A Logo!

So here’s the deal. Judy is asking you to design a logo that will represent the fencing center.

• The tabs have been fixed. The information about our newsletter is on the bottom of the About Us tab. I'm still working out a few kinks, but otherwise, the site is back on track. If you notice any broken links or other small issues, please send me a messsage at tonya-vrba@uiowa.edu

• The Schedule discussed at Thrusday's meeting has been posted on the new Schedule tab. Dates of TBA events will be added as soon as the information is available.

• If you're a student and interested in joining the competitive team, be sure to attend the informational meeting Thursday the 3rd at 6:45pm. The meeting will take place on the West side of the Main Deck in the Field house. We'll meet by the vending machines. If you can't make this meeting but are interested, be sure to send us an email.

• Don't forget the Beginner's Class that starts this Tuesday, September 1st from 7 - 8 pm in the North Gym of the field house. Check out the flyers around Iowa City and the Meeting Times tab on this website for more information. There's no experience necessary. See you Tuesday!

• New tabs have been added! If anyone is interested in private lessons, you can now find information through the Private Lessons tab. We are also starting up a newsletter for parents, students, alumni, and anyone else who wants to keep up to date with the activities of the club. Check out the News Letter tab for more information.

• The Hawkeye Fencing Club is getting ready for the fall semester. Plans for the Beginners Class (starting 9/1/2009) are in full swing. Anyone interested in the sport of fencing is welcome to come and see what it's all about. Just make sure you fill out a waiver or you won't be able to hold a blade!
