2/6/09:Update:
Schedule Page; all dates are now finalized, please mark
your calendars. Please notice the RiverRun date. All
members should consider attending.
2/4/09:
Iowa Crew has been back from break for
about three weeks now and much progress has been made.
Returning from Mendota has proved beneficial. Stay tuned
for the results. We have also seen a few new members
which is quite encouraging for the team as a whole. The
Executive Board also has been working on a new
Constitution and is expected to pass within the next few
weeks. Another sign that the Iowa Men's Rowing Team is
progressing structurally.
Update: Roster Page
11/19/08:
2k Tests Tomorrow!!
(Make sure to attend
practice!)
11/18/08:
The team will be hosting a fundraiser tonight at
Coldstone to raise money for much needed equipment such
as new ergometers. All members are encouraged to attend
along with their friends.
If you are scheduled to
work please remember to attend the training session at
4:30 P.M.
In addition: Remember an
all team (varsity and novice) practice is scheduled for
this Friday morning (6 A.M.), November 21st. Should be
having some fun!
11/3/08: The
varsity and novice team returned this morning from
Wichita, Kansas. The nine hour drive was grueling, but
worth the journey. Congratulations to the Novice 8+ B
boat who took third place. Compared to previous years,
this regatta has not been as competitive. This year,
however, proved to be very challenging, and despite the
tough competition, our team faired well. Numerous boats
earned fourth place out of twenty or more entries. So,
although not many medals were taken home, Iowa still
prevailed in its last regatta of the fall season.
Please Note: No
Practice this week! Indoor (Winter) Season begins on
Monday. Remember, the attendance policy is still in
effect (see Members Page). Practice is mandatory.
10/26/08:
All novice and varsity be prepared to leave on:
Saturday, November 1st
at
8:00 A.M.
(please
note this change)
for the Frostbite
Regatta held in Wichita, Kansas.
As usual be 15 minutes
early and bring your waivers! Dress nicely (i.e.
polos, jeans) as you are representing the university.
This will be about an 8 to 11 hour drive so bring
laptops, homework, books, etc. to stay busy. We are
scheduled to arrive back at the boathouse on Monday
morning between the times of 1:00 A.M. and 3:30 A.M. so
plan your homework and other duties accordingly! This is
our last regatta for the fall season; make it count.
*Update: Change/updated
attendance policy on Members Page.
10/22/08:
Change of
Schedule:
The team will no longer
be going to the North Star Regatta this Saturday. The
next (and last) planned regatta for the fall season will
be the Frostbite held in Wichita, Kansas. We will be
leaving the following Saturday.
10/14/2008:Minor
updates to the website. Check the Photos for updated
pictures and the Members page for the attendance policy.
10/13/2008:Upon
returning from the Quad Cities Classic Regatta and the
Head of the Rock, the varsity and novice team performed
highly against the competition. The Head of the Rock,
being on the largest regattas in the Midwest, attracts
teams like Purdue, Norte Dame, Nebraska, and many others
who are extremely competitive. The varsity 8+ at Quad
Cities took second place and the lightweight 8+ at the
Head of the Rock took first place! Both of these
standings has never been earned by Iowa Men's Crew.
Based on the past few competitions, it seems this team
is no longer a small university club, but instead, a
team with a dangerous line-up.
10/7/2008:
All Novice and Varsity be prepared to leave on:
Saturday, October 11th
at
5:30
A.M.
for the
Quad Cities Classic
Regatta (Saturday)
and
Head of the Rock
(Sunday)
Arrive at the boat house
15 minutes early and make sure to bring your waivers.
No waiver, no race. This is our biggest (and only) two
day race for the fall season. Be prepared to pull hard
and work even harder. Make sure to attend every practice
this week.
10/2/2008:
An all team (Varsity and Novice) practice is
scheduled for this:
Saturday, October 4th
from 12:00
P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
As usual, be ten minutes
early arriving to the boathouse and get ready for
extreme technique work. Remember, we have two big races
next weekend. Attendance is mandatory. If you have any
conflicts, please make sure to tell Blondy or Myles
ASAP.
In addition, as voted by
the executed board, a new attendance policy will be
enacted beginning tomorrow. The details are
located on the Members page.
One final update: The Iowa Men's
Rowing Team has once again made the Daily Iowan. This is
quite a feat for this organization since recognition
outside of non-recreational teams is extremely
limited at this university. Here is the link:

Club.Rowing.Gaining.Steam-3466137.shtml?reffeature=htmlemailedition
9/27/2008:
The varsity team returned from the Head of the Des
Moines with a first place trophy in the open varsity
four division. Congratulations to Blondy, Josh, Austin,
and Cozi! In addition, the varsity pair, consisting of
Blondy and Cozi, took first place! This is quite an
accomplishment since the Iowa Men's Rowing Team has not
won a varsity race in a decade. The 8+ boat earned 3rd
place. Overall it was a solid race and the team looks
forward to returning next year.
9/21/2008:The
varsity team will have their first regatta in:
Des Moines
this Saturday, September 27th.
All varsity members be
prepared to leave on Friday, September 26th for
an overnight stay. We are expected to return to Iowa
City on Saturday between the times of 5:00 P.M. and 9:00
P.M.
Novice members are
encouraged to attend for a chance to learn how a regatta
functions. Contact Matt or Myles if you would like a
spot. (Seats are limited. Express your interest early)
9/12/2008:
An all day practice will be held on:
Saturday, September 20th
from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
ALL varsity and novice
members are expected to attend. If any there are any
conflicts, please contact either Matthew or Myles ASAP.
8/24/2008: The Iowa Men's Rowing Team is looking for
new members. No rowing experience is required.
There will be two informational meetings for interested
students:
