Purpose: To promote the sport of rowing to the UI and Iowa City communities and to offer an alternative and competitive sport for members to participate in.

 

5/4/2008:  This past weekend the rowing team was in Topeka, Kansas competing in the Great Plains Rowing Championships.  The team took first place overall at the competition.  The twenty different entries that the team made kept everyone busy all weekend long.  Every event that was entered had at least one medaling boat, eighteen medaling boats total.  All of the hard work that the team has put in this past academic year has really paid off.  The results of this competition are a testimony to the dedication that each team member has to the sport.

4/13/2008:  The Men's Rowing Team participated in the Upper Midwest Collegiate Sprints in Omaha, NE.  The host of the regatta was Creighton University.  Multiple gold medals were taken home by the team, earning Iowa a third place overall regatta finish.  Some of the highest placing boats are listed below.  Get full results here.

3/26/2008:  The Men's Rowing Team is back out on the water.  After a long wait for the river to completely thaw out, the Men's Rowing Team made its debut back out on the Iowa River.  The fast and high water conditions could prove to be a nuisance to the team, but the team's dedication and determination should help them continue practice as usual.  The first water race of the season is April 5th on Lake McBride, where Iowa will be hosting Iowa State University, Augustana University and The University of Illinois.

3/25/2008:  After a long and hard winter indoor rowing season, the rowing team got recognized for their hard work and achievements this past season in an article in the Daily Iowan.  Check out the whole article here.

2/16/2008:  To wrap up the winter season, the team traveled to Chicago to compete in the Chicago Indoor Rowing Championships.  The Hawks left their mark on Chicago and shocked the competition, placing first in a number of events.  Matt Coziahr broke the old event record for the Collegiate Novice Lightweight Men 2K race of 6:44.9, finishing with a 6:43.0, and Victor Weese broke the old event record for the Men's Collegiate Coxswain 1K race of 3:39.6, finishing with a 3:36.6!  The top finishes are listed below.  Get full event results here.  Check out some event pictures here.
