2009-2010 Iowa Men's Crew
11/6/09:
Another fall regatta season has ended for the Iowa Men's
Crew. This year's ending was something that had not be
experienced in over 4 years. The team had their final
regatta of the season at home for the Head of the Iowa.
It ended up being a beautiful day for racing and both
varsity and novice got to perform on their home river in
from of a largely Iowa crowd. The new boathouse set the
stage for a great day of races and the teams got to race
against some of the very best competition in the
Midwest. Winter season is upon us, see you this spring.
10/22/09:The
Hawks traveled to the Quad Cities and Rockford the
weekend of the 10th and competed in many races, many
members for the first time. Overall, the experience was
a good introduction to the novice crew of what is to
come. Also, the varsity took off over 20 seconds in all
of their boats a big drop from last year.
The Iowa Men's Crew team fall regatta
season will come to an end this Sunday as they compete
in the HEAD OF THE IOWA. This will be the first time the
race will be held in over three years. So come out and
support your Hawkeyes on their home river.
9/8/09: The
regatta season is upon us and the Iowa Men's Crew team
is in full swing. Varsity is two weeks in to their
training while the new Novice team will begin start
practice today. Varsity and Novice will have practice
five times a week at their respective times. Here's to a
great fall season, Go Hawks.
5/10/09:
The Iowa Men's Crew spring season has come to an end.
This spring the team competed in three events: The Upper
Midwest Collegiate Sprints, the Cy-Hawk and Augustana
Duals, and the Great Plaines Rowing Championships. The
season started in Omaha for the Hawks with a 1st place
finish in the Varsity 4+ and also placed 2nd
overall in the Varsity 8+. For the second year in the
row the men walked away with the Cy-Hawk Oar and many
dominating wins. To wrap up the season the team headed
to Topeka for the Great Plaines Championships and for
the second year in a row brought the all points trophy
back to Iowa City along with 33 gold medals, 54 silver
medals, and 10 bronze medals. See you next fall.

your calendars. Please notice the RiverRun date. All
members should consider attending.
2/4/09:
Iowa Crew has been back from break for
about three weeks now and much progress has been made.
Returning from Mendota has proved beneficial. Stay tuned
for the results. We have also seen a few new members
which is quite encouraging for the team as a whole. The
Executive Board also has been working on a new
Constitution and is expected to pass within the next few
weeks. Another sign that the Iowa Men's Rowing Team is
progressing structurally.
