Purpose: To promote the sport of rowing to the UI and Iowa City communities and to offer an alternative and competitive sport for members to participate in.

10/2/2008: An all team (Varsity and Novice) practice is scheduled for this:

Saturday, October 4th from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.

As usual, be ten minutes early arriving to the boathouse and get ready for extreme technique work. Remember, we have two big races next weekend. Attendance is mandatory. If you have any conflicts, please make sure to tell Blondy or Myles ASAP.

 

 

In addition, as voted by the executed board, a new attendance policy will be enacted beginning tomorrow. The details is as follows:

                      Allowed two (2) unexcused absences every three weeks.

                      After two unexcused absences:

 

                           First Absence: 10k erg piece on the next Saturday at 9:00 A.M.

                     Second Absence: 10k + Coaches Meeting

                         Third Absence: No participation will be allowed in next regatta (must still attend race)

                       Fourth Absence: Executive board will review your status on this team.  

 

Also, lateness will not be tolerated. For every minute late, ten (10) jumpies will be required at the end of practice and arriving 15 minutes late will count towards an unexcused absence.

Any questions can be directed to Blondy or Myles. Remember, you will be still allowed excused absences, but they must be valid.       

 

 

 One final update: The Iowa Mens Rowing Team has once again made the Daily Iowan. This is quite a feat for this organization since recognition outside of non-recreational teams is extremely limited at this university. Here is the link:

9/27/2008: The varsity team  returned from the Head of the Des Moines with a first place trophy in the open varsity four division. Congratulations to Blondy, Josh, Austin, and Cozi! In addition, the varsity pair, consisting of Blondy and Cozi, took first place! This is quite an accomplishment since the Iowa Men's Rowing Team has not won a varsity race in a decade. The 8+ boat earned 3rd place. Overall it was a solid race and the team looks forward to returning next year.

 

 

9/21/2008:The varsity team will have their first regatta in:

 Des Moines this Saturday, September 27th.

All varsity members be prepared to leave on Friday, September 26th for an overnight stay. We are expected to return to Iowa City on Saturday between the times of 5:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M.

 

Novice members are encouraged to attend for a chance to learn how a regatta functions. Contact Matt or Myles if you would like a spot. (Seats are limited. Express your interest early)

 

 

9/12/2008: An all day practice will be held on:

Saturday, September 20th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

ALL varsity and novice members are expected to attend. If any there are any conflicts, please contact either Matthew or Myles ASAP.

 

 

8/24/2008: The Iowa Men's Rowing Team is looking for new members.  No rowing experience is required.  There will be two informational meetings for interested students:

• Thursday, August 28th at 6:00 PM

• Friday, August 29th at 12:00 PM (Noon) & 6:00 PM
