Fall 2009 Outlook
UIMT will start the year as the highest rated public university by the American Mock Trial Association, rated fifth
in the nation. They start the season with six teams that will compete in ten invitational tournaments before competing
in the regional tournaments in early February. The teams will travel to Minneapolis, Louisville, Washington D.C., Champagne,
and New York City among other in-state tournaments.
The organization will try to re-create history as they try to improve upon their 4th place finish last year at the National Championship.
After finishing in 4th place in 2001, UIMT won the National Championship the following two years.

Summer Break
UIMT is currently on summer break. Information regarding the new season for students interested in joining
the program can be found under the "Join UIMT" section.
Returning members interested in summer news, next year's schedule or any other information should check out this site,
logon to the ICON site and/or e-mail a board member or the head coach.
Parents, relatives, and friends of UIMT members should keep an eye out for our montly newsletter during the season.

2008 - 2009 Post-season Results
The Hawkeyes had an impressive finish to their strong season. Two Iowa teams competed at the National Tournament in Des Moines
on April 17th through the 19th. Team 1271 faced Claremont McKenna College, University of Alabama-Birmingham, University of Pittsburgh,
and University of California-Berkley. They finished with a record of 6-2 in 4th place at the National Championship Tournament in Des Moines.
The team was captained by Megan Lowe and Ravi Narayan.
Team 1272 faced Syracuse University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Alabama-Birmingham, and University of Arizona. They finished
with a recod of 2-5-1. The team was captained by Molly McPartland and Eric Wojnicki
Two competitors from Iowa received All-American Awards. Katie Beary won an outstanding witness award on team 1272, and Ravi Narayan
won and outstanding attorney award on team 1271.

Iowa Mock Trial Program receives two bids to National Tournament
Two teams will represent the University of Iowa at the National Mock Trial Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa on April 17th-19th, 2009.
The two teams competed in Kansas City at the Opening Round Championship Tournament on March 13th-15th, 2009 and placed 3rd and 4th, respectively.
Ravi Narayan, Molly McPartland, and Eric Wojinicki received special recognition as Outstanding Attorneys.
The teams will be among 48 teams from 39 different schools from across the United States. The program has consistently represented Iowa at the
National tournament since the start of the American Mock Trial Association in 1985. The teams will compete for the their third National Championship.
The previous two were won in 2002 and 2003, respectively. The teams are coached by Neal and Melissa Schuett.
2007 - 2008 Post-season Results
Iowa Mock Trial continued to hold its national reputation, qualifying two teams for nationals:
one for the Silver Tournament, and one for the Gold Tournament. Members of 612 competed at Gold at Hamline University in Minnesota
and faced Wake Forest, UC Berkeley, Miami of Ohio, and Chicago. The team went 5-3 and earned 8th place in the nation.
Team 613 competed at the Silver Tournament in Waukegon, Illinois and faced Northwestern, Georgetown, Colorado, and Notre Dame.
The team ended with a record of 5-2-1 and earned 9th place. Kristin Langhammer received an award for Outstanding Witness with 19 ranks.
Their strong showing on the national level was an excellent way to end the season,
and a reason to be even more excited for the returning talent for next year as Iowa Mock Trial fights for another championship!
