The purpose of this association is to facilitate support of the
University of Iowa by retired faculty and staff members and to promote
the interests and welfare of those retirees. We strive to help retired
members of the University and their spouses, widows, widowers, or
domestic partners keep in touch with each other and with the social
and intellectual life of the University.
At present, more
than 600 UI retirees and their spouses or domestic partners belong
to the UIRA.

Programs are offered monthly September through June, including
a picnic in June and an annual banquet in April. See Programs
and Events for a full list of programs offered.
Other examples
include:
Discussions
of University programs
Local cultural
and civic activities
Tours of University
buildings
A yearly presentation
by Staff Benefits on health insurance
options for
retirees
UIRA's annual
flu shot clinic

Any former faculty or staff member who has retired from The University
of Iowa and his/her spouse or domestic partner may become a member
of UIRA. Any spouse, widow, widower, or domestic partner of a faculty
or staff member who died while still employed by the University
may become a member of UIRA.
Associate Membership
(non-voting, non-office holding) is open to those who have present
or previous ties to the University. Individuals may become members
upon submission of the Membership
Form and payment of dues of $10. Dues cover The Gray Hawk
Newsletter, mailings, printing, and other expenses.
A member may
terminate by written notice to the treasurer of UIRA or by non-payment
of dues.
