What is UITV?

University of Iowa Television (UITV) is a cable programming service available to cable television viewers on campus and in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Coralville, and surrounding communities. The service provides programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year.

Programs include a variety of programming produced by members of The University of Iowa community. UITV features programming from Student Video Productions, the School of Music, the Department of Dance, the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, the International Writers Program, the Athletic Department, The Daily Iowan, the Tippie College of Business and UI special events, such as the annual Presidential Lecture and college commencements. UITV also works cooperatively with Iowa Public Radio to bring several popular radio programs to television.

Mission

The mission of UITV is to promote and showcase the best of The University of Iowa to the cable TV viewing audience. UITV programming reflects the teaching, research, and service missions of the University for campus, community, and state audiences. Programming on UITV educates, entertains, informs, and challenges by:

bringing learning opportunities to students outside of the classroom;
extending campus events to a larger audience;
sharing the richness of the University community with the Iowa community;
better connecting Iowans to their University;
providing a venue for student experience with this broadcast media; and
helping prospective students and their parents "visit" the University.
