The Newcomers’ Division of The University Club is open to all women during their first four years of residence in the Iowa City area.  Our monthly meetings provide the opportunity to meet other newcomers and to learn more about this unique community.  Invite your new neighbors to a coffee or other Club activities.  The coffees and other activities are as a rule for adults; family events are noted separately.  It is our hope that this will provide everyone, especially our young mothers, an opportunity for adult socialization; however, we are not able to provide you childcare at our coffees'.  We meet the 3rd Thursday of the each month, except in December.  Our June 18th, July 16th, and August 20th coffee’s will be held at Terrapin Coffee, 12th Avenue  & Oakdale Blvd. in Coralville.  This will be a great opportunity to meet new friends and explore Iowa City.

The Newcomers Group is open to residents who are new to Johnson County and have been in the area four years or less.

 		Walking Tour of Iowa City (from the Bread Garden)

The Newcomers Group of the University Club will meet from 9:30 to 11:30am Thursday, September 17th, 2009 at The Bread Garden, 225 S Linn St, Iowa City.   Wear your favorite walking shoes as we take a walking tour of the city (weather permitting). If the weather is uncooperative, we will stay at the Bread Garden and do a ‘virtual tour’ with maps.
