Virtual School of Computational Science & Engineering Planning Meeting
Dr. Jun Ni, Associate Professor representing University of Iowa participated in Virtual School of Computational Science & Engineering planning meeting at the University of Michigan July 1-2. The 'by invitation only' event was organized by the Great Lakes Consortium for Petascale Computation at the University of Michigan's Lurie Engineering Center. The Virtual School was established in 2008 as part of the Blue Waters project under the auspices of the Great Lakes Consortium for Petascale Computation, aiming to preparing the next generation of computational scientists and engineers to exploit high performance computing—especially petascale computing—for scientific discovery and engineering innovation. The meeting was called by the shcool's director, Dr. Sharon Glotzer, Professor from University of Michigan and The school's Associate Director, Thorm Dunning, Professor of UIUC and Director of NCSA. At the planning meeting, attendees mainly from CIC schools energetically discussed the school's mission, strategic planning and, scope curriculum developments, and course implementations. The initiative documentation can be found here.
