Over 75% of the items in the WISE collection are unique and
cannot be found in the InfoHawk catalog for the UI Libraries.

The collection contains materials specific to topics such as mentoring, two-career couples (two-body problem), gender-equitable curricula, the digital divide, and chilly climate, as well as featuring role-modeling books on women scientists and engineers, Nobel Prize winners, and for career exploration.

Books, manuals, and curricular materials specific to math, physical and biological sciences, technology and engineering are also made available to K-12 educators for use in their classrooms, to supplement existing curricula or as developmental resources.  This includes an extensive collection of DVD’s produced by scientifically respected entities such as National Geographic and the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) with titles from series such as Nova, Frontline, Scientific American Frontiers, and National Geographic Ultimate Explorer.

As additional resources, we house an extensive collection of science and engineering activities and experiments for use in K-12 populations, whether in the classroom or as part of a community outreach program.
